A day to remember Paige
Paige’s story

A life that should have had so much more ahead.

Paige Bell was a 20-year-old South African yacht crew member known by those around her for her warmth, laughter, ambition and generous spirit. She was building a life in yachting and was just days away from her 21st birthday.

On July 3, 2025, Paige was found unresponsive aboard the yacht on which she worked in The Bahamas. A fellow crew member was subsequently charged with her murder. The criminal proceedings remain a matter for the courts.

Paige’s death devastated her family, friends and the wider yachting community. It also forced our industry to confront a painful truth: crew safety cannot stop at vessel operations. The people who work aboard must be protected, heard and supported too.

This day is about more than remembering what happened. It is about helping prevent another family from facing the same loss.

For Paige and her family

Behind every crew member is a family waiting for them to come home.

Paige was a daughter, a sister, a friend and a deeply loved member of her family. The Golf Day holds her family at the heart of its purpose: remembering the person they loved while working toward meaningful protection for others at sea.

By coming together, the yachting community can ensure that Paige’s name carries a legacy of care, courage and practical change.

Why we are playing

Turning remembrance into action.

The Paige Bell Memorial Golf Day brings crew, captains, yacht owners and the businesses that serve yachting together around a shared responsibility: protecting crew.

Funds raised are intended to support practical initiatives focused on crew safety, mental-health support, education, confidential reporting and tools that help crew access assistance when they need it.

  • Better access to safety and wellness resources
  • Education and awareness that help prevent harm
  • Stronger reporting and support pathways for crew
  • Future initiatives created to protect people working at sea
